Werner Häberling wurde am 10.02.1944 in Obfelden/ZH geboren. Er wuchs in einer Bauernfamilie auf. Auf einem Familienspaziergang begegnete Werner einem Landschaftsmaler, er war fasziniert und fing sofort an, sich im Zeichnen und Malen auszuprobieren. Bereits während der Schulzeit begann er mit der Ölmalerei und blieb diesem Kunststil weitgehend treu. Nach der Schule absolvierte er eine Lehre als Retoucheur bei einem bekannten Verlagshaus in Zürich. Als Maler war er Autodidakt und erweiterte seinen Horizont während Studienreisen durch Europa, Asien, Afrika und Kuba. Künstler wie Savador Dali, Mati Klarwein, Ernst Fuchs etc. wurden zu seinen Vorbildern, Nach der Lehre arbeitete er als Bühnenbildner, teileweise beim Bernhard Theater, um seine Malerei zu finanzieren. Werner nahm mit seinen Werken an verschiedenen Ausstellungen und Vernissagen erfolgreich teil. Er erhielt die Silbermedaille des Art Directors Club für Illustrationen im Penthouse. Das amerikanische Fotomagazin Penthouse-Letters publizierte mehrere Gemälde in den Ausgaben April 1991 und Februar 1995. Er lebte als freischaffender Künstler in Zürich und war bis zu seinem Tod 2008 mit Isabella, geborene Grebien, in zweiter Ehe, verheiratet.
Werner Häberling was born on February 10, 1944 in Obfelden/ZH. He grew up in a farming family. On a family walk, Werner met a landscape painter, he was fascinated and immediately began to try drawing and painting. He began painting in oils while he was still at school and remained largely true to this art form. After school he completed an apprenticeship as a retoucher at a well-known publishing house in Zurich. As a painter he was self-taught and expanded his horizons on study trips through Europe, Asia, Africa and Cuba. Artists such as Savador Dali, Mati Klarwein, Ernst Fuchs etc. became his role models. After his apprenticeship, he worked as a stage designer, sometimes at the Bernhard Theater, to finance his painting. Werner successfully took part in various exhibitions and vernissages with his works. He received the Art Directors Club Silver Medal for Illustrations in the Penthouse. The American photo magazine Penthouse-Letters published several paintings in the April 1991 and February 1995 issues. He lived as a freelance artist in Zurich until his death in 2008.
