Unique stories, recommendations, exhibitions, podcasts and much more on paintings, artists, art collectors and a broad-based art scene flood the market. Every month, we filter exciting information from this big, colourful pot and share 5 tips for art lovers and the art-curious alike. This time with a focus on our French neighbours: Bienvenue La France!

THE LOUVRE INVESTIGATES - is the art podcast of one of the largest museums in the world. Horrific crimes, robberies, assassinations, kidnappings and poisonings take place under the «eyes of Mona Lisa & Co.» In a sort of police examination, «investigator» Romane Böhringer uncovers spectacular cases and reveals the secrets of famous masterpieces. A podcast mix to fall in love with! Highly recommended, not only for children (7-12 years): «The Odysseys of the Louvre» - art history rarely comes to life so vividly.

EVEN MORE SECRETS AND CURIOSITIES about Louvre paintings are revealed in the book «Le Louvre insolent». What do a stupidly smiling Henry IV, a 15th century monk flying through the picture like a rocket or a painting by Peter Paul Rubens crammed with angels tell us? Four authors take us by the hand in an amusing and instructive way and explain amusing and inappropriate picture details with wonderful ease. Laughter allowed.

ANOTHER ART PODCAST this time from the Centre Pompidou, another impressive museum in the heart of Paris. From Europe's largest collection of modern and contemporary art, «Un Podcast, une Oeuvre» presents a major work from a specific series such as «Art and Love», «Art and Utopia», «Art and Queer» and so on. Accompanied by spectacular, unpublished archive material and contemporary music, this podcast is an experience!

DALILAND - eccentric surrealist artist in Paris, painter and inventor of melting clocks, burning giraffes and drawer bodies, creator of legendary paintings and sculptures: the Spaniard Salvador Dalí kept the international art world in suspense for decades with his unconventional works. Daliland sheds light on the biography of the aged painter in New York, whose aura remains unbroken. And for a young art school graduate, a wild adventure now begins...

AN ARTIST OF SWITZERLAND AND FRANCE - Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966), the exceptional artist, is claimed by both countries. And rightly so. Born in Switzerland, raised here, encouraged by his parents and studying in Paris from the 1920s onwards, the young artist became a celebrity in the vibrant capital of art and culture. It is worth travelling to discover him more closely: in Paris at the Fondation Giacometti, which will be joined by a new Giacometti Museum in 2026; at the Swiss Centro Giacometti in Stampa, the various offerings, including the Giacometti Art Trail, or the current exhibition at the Bündner Kunstmuseum Chur «Alberto Giacometti. Portrait of the artist as a young man» (until 19 November 2023). And if you would like to marvel at Giovanni Giacometti's father, you can find a wonderful landscape painting by his hand for sale on art24.
