Dr. Martina Kral
My passion for art goes all the way back to my childhood. As a 5-year-old I decided to do «something with art» one day... I ignored being laughed at, sentences like «you won't find a job in this field», «you should do a secure apprenticeship with a bank or study business». Several years later, I studied art history. At the same time, I did internships in museums and galleries, wrote articles for the culture section of a newspaper and gave courses on painting in the area of adult education.
In 2002, my dream of a job in the field of arts came true: I became curator of the Rosengart Collection in Lucerne. For 17 years I was responsible for works by Picasso, Klee, Chagall, Matisse, Monet, and others. I mediated the content of the paintings and their stories in thousands of guided tours and organized an annual program of events. Now I live my passion for art as an independent art historian in many different places. Art is individual, immediate, expressive and is experienced differently by each person. I bring my knowledge, experience and emotions to art24 as a consulting art expert and curator.
art24 is the ideal platform for me to fully engage as an art scholar and historian, researcher, writer, blogger, curator and decades-long fan of art in all its facets. Here I found a place where I can directly apply most aspects of my past experiences from researching, investigating, curating, writing to storytelling. I have my finger on the pulse of the worldwide online mediation of art, contact with artists and art lovers, and networking with each other. I am part of a fascinating, innovative, boundary-breaking start-up surrounded by a colourful, intersectoral, highly motivated and likeable team of young and experienced people who inspire me.
